Jill Shipman’s Bio

Jill Shipman was born in the heart of east Texas in a pastoral setting. With an artistic Mother and a fun loving Father, who often spread a quilt on the lawn so they could watch the night sky. She developed a love of the beauty around her. She spent countless hours creating villages with bridges and clothing for the people with building blocks and crayons. From this enriching background came far reaching horizons.

She married and while raising three children starting a career in interior decorating and set designs as well as teaching classes in style, color, and composition. After retiring from that career, she and her husband moved to Salado Texas and built a enchanting Bed and Breakfast, Stone Creek Settlement. She designed the smallest details in the Sunday house style cottages, even choosing an array of eclectic fabrics which she constructed into window and bed coverings.

At long last, after the construction was finished, she realized her longtime dream of taking oil painting lesson. For seven months she took weekly private lessons from an internationally known artist (named one of the top fifteen in the world) and followed that with twelve weeklong workshops with nationally known artist. She went on to earn her art degree and is now an accomplished and successful artist.

When asked what inspires her art she said “ I want to paint the rich colors of beauty around me as I watch the light rippling across the sky, the land, a face or a flower. In capturing this on my canvas I can share that magic with my collectors.” Her art reaches out and grabs your heart, filling it with joy and hope.
